We cannot find God in noise or agitation. Nature: trees, flowers, and grass grow in silence. The stars, the moon, and the sun move in silence. What is essential is not what we say but what God tells us and what He tells others through us. In silence he listens to us; in silence He speaks to our souls. In silence we are granted the privilege of listening to His voice.
Silence of our eyes.
Silence of our ears.
Silence of our mouths.
Silence of our minds.
… in the silence of the heart
God will speak.
- Mother Teresa ‘No Greater Love’
I have a long way to go, and these are my areas of weakness that I most often post about and more importantly ask my Father to work on in me.
Stumbled on this going thru old songs to adapt for a Jazz Ensemble I’m rockin’ w/ July 1st @ Shrine in Harlem
wow. shows how much I’ve grown I don’t think I’d feel / say these things now… I remember writing this in like 10 mins, whole song, in 2003!! Poured out… this is a slept on OLD OLD OLD ‘eternia’ joint hehe.
*ducks.
thoughts? should I adapt this?
p.s. don’t make fun of the singer… I never said I could sing :-p
p.p.s. shout out to Matisse of “Keys n Krates” for rockin the keys on this, before there was keys n krates :-D
Neither glory in your success, but refer all to God in deepest thankfulness.” — Mother Teresa (“No Greater Love”)
BLESSING in DISGUISE” — just realizing today. thank you Lord for that reminder.
We treat you like our personal whore,
enslaved to our every dirty whim and dark desire.
Try to escape and we’ll lash you some more,
burn you, prod you, brand you with fire.
Man-made hatred of all you stand for.
You pose a threat; we keep you underfoot.
Pretending we actually rule in power
over all that you do, your being and look.
Mold you, Shape you, Use you, Frame you
Box you with science and say that you’re bought.
You are our slave, our shame mixed with
hatred and pity and guilt and your blood all combined.
Out on the corner, long after sunset,
cold winds blow and cool your sores.
Kiss you, Caress you, it whispers ‘I Love You’,
gently restores you when we are no more.
You have borne witness to many a master;
lost count of pompous pride, who came and went.
Man who is nothing, pretending they own you,
And for All this, Nature is Never Spent
My line was: “And for all this, Nature is never Spent”
- excerpt from “Boundaries” by Cloud & Townsend
- just me

When a horse is being broken, the trainer
pulls it in many different directions,
so the horse will come to know
what it is to be ridden.
The most beautiful and alert horse is one
completely attuned to the rider.
God fixes a passionate desire in you,
and then disappoints you.
God does that a hundred times!
God breaks the wings of one intention
and then gives you another,
cuts the rope of contriving,
so you’ll remember your dependence.
But sometimes your plans work out!
You feel fulfilled and in control.
That’s because, if you were always failing,
you might give up. But remember,
it is by failures that lovers
stay aware of how they are loved.
Failure is the key
to the kingdom within.
Your prayer should be, “Break the legs
of what I want to happen. Humiliate
my desire. Eat me like candy.
It’s spring and finally
I have no will.
